Preparation for Academic Study Course is offered in the afternoon as an Elective course in addition to the core Summer Intensive English program.
If university study is in your plans, then this course is just right for you. You already know enough English to get around, and your academic background is strong enough to qualify for study at an American University.
Success in a typical American university setting requires greater English language skills. This class focuses on the advanced fluency skills you need:
- active listening
- asking questions in class
- contributing ideas and opinions
- participating in group discussions
Course work also focuses on university level reading and writing skills. You'll practice academic research skills and learn to write strong, clear, and convincing papers. The course can also help visiting professors, researchers, postdocs and other scholars prepare to participate in the academic culture of a US university.
