International English Program

Our International English Program helps our students improve their English speaking and listening skills, learn new vocabulary, and improve their reading and writing.

Essay writing, critical listening, reading comprehension, and structure are all part of our course. In addition to an interesting in-class experience, our school offers an exciting school activities program, with a calendar full of fun filled activities to help students practice their English skills outside the classroom.

We offer General English courses for international F-1 students (full-time courses) and for persons visiting the US as tourists (part-time courses). Both full-time and part-time courses cover the same study material, but full-time students also attend a conversation club every week.

We also offer private one-to-one General English and English for Special Purposes (Business English, Medical English, English for Lawyers, etc.) courses and Camp programs for closed groups of students traveling togehter.

Groups and Levels.

The school has an entry point for its new students every second Monday. Before starting classes all students are to sit for a written Placement Test (based on the placement test created by University of Michigan) as well as take part into an oral evaluation. The combined results of these two tests allow for the placement of new students in their appropriate level. In the event that students feel that they were misplaced a Placement Grievance Procedures is in place for their placements to be reconsidered.

To better respond to the individual needs and abilities of our students we offer 7 different levels. Each level takes aproximately 12 weeks to complete.

How long do students study in order to complete the program?

This depends on the result of you placement exam. Each level lasts 12 weeks and there are 6 levels. So if you start your class at Basic 1 level you will need 18 months to complete the entire program.

Timetable during your course

Classes are held from Monday to Friday. We offer two different schedules.

Morning: from 9:00 A.M to 12:40 P.M.
Evening: from 6:00 P.M. to 9:15 P.M.

If a student's level is not available at the desired schedule, he or she must attend the schedule in which the level is being offered.

Wednesday afternoon we offer a conversation club for two hours for students who attend a full-time General English course.

Class Size

Even though our classes can accommodate up to 15 students we normally have an average of 10 to 12 students per class. This small class setting allows for our students to receive the individual attention required for them to succeed in their course of study.
